Thomas Jeffrey Hanks or Tom Hanks is a widely known and extremely successful actor. What makes him an American icon is his iconic roles and the variety in his choices. He is not a one genre movie actor. On the contrary, he made all sorts of movie genres like action, romance, drama, comedy, animated, science fiction even horror. Most actors who do all kind of movies genres are going to fail at least in one. That's why some actors are categorized or famous for one or two movie type. You know what day is it? It's Thursday. Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump belongs to 1994. It is a Romantic-Comedy/Drama movie. This movie is based on "Forrest Grump" novel by Winston Groom. However, the movie differs from the real novel. It talks about a man named Forrest Grump with a low IQ but with a gold kind heart. This man may not know how to solve a math equation but he definitely knows how to run fast, protect his friends and how to love. In his life, he witnessed some historical events like the events of Vietnam, Watergate, the presidencies of Kennedy and Johnson and other events. After all of that, he only desires to reunite with his only friend and love of his life, Jenny.
Sully: Miracle on the Hudson
This movie belongs to 2016. It is a Drama movie. It's based on the autobiography called "Highest Duty" by Chesley Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow. It's about a pilot named captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger who lands his plane on the Hudson River. He takes this decision to save the lives of the passengers after his plane is attacked and hit with birds. He saves the passengers lives and becomes a hero. Knowing that it is a true story is such a heroic act and of course a horrifying experience
The Polar Express
The Polar Express belongs to 2004. It is a great Animated/Family movie. This movie is an important Christmas movie. On Christmas Eve, a boy gets on an extraordinary train whose travelers are only kids. This train takes these children to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus. This young boy and his train friends are gonna see things they have never seen before. They will live an extraordinary adventure which they won't ever forget.
The Terminal
This movie belongs to 2004. It is a Comedy/Romance/Drama movie. An Eastern European man (Viktor Navorski) who is from Krakozhia travels to New York. When he arrives to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, he discovers that his passport is not valid. After the civil war, USA doesn't admit Krakozhia as an independent country. Because of that, Viktor can't enter the US or return to his country. What a difficult situation he is in.
You've Got Mail
If I am talking about Tom Hanks movies, I can't stop myself from recommending You've Got Mail. This one of the most poplar Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan iconic movies. It belongs to 1998. It is a Romance/Drama movie. Kathleen Kelly a little bookstore owner, her business is threatened by the opening of a new huge bookstore chain near her store. The owner of that store is Joe Fox. Both of them are sharing nearly the same life. Their partners are totally different from them. However, both of them use the same way to escape their life routine, they use you've got mail.
