Lettuce is a very unique vegetable. It is an annual plant which belongs to Asteraceae daisy family. Egyptians were the first to cultivate lettuce. It is well known for it's green crunchy leaf and juiciness. What makes lettuce unique is it's variety. There are Romaine, Chinese ( Celtuce ), Lamb, Butter-head, Loose-head, Crisp head and Summer Crisp lettuce. Romaine lettuce is used in Caesar salad. You can find more than one kind of lettuce and enjoy them all.
